The Pakistan squad has been named for the much anticipated Super Sixes tournament in Hong Kong next month. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named experienced pacer Sohail Tanvir as the skipper of the side. The highly popular Hong Kong Super Sixes is set to be back in the business after a five-year absence from the cricketing scenes. The event will be held at Kowloon Cricket Club on October 28 and 29.

Apart from hosts Hong Kong, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa will take part in the eight-nation tournament. The Green army for the event includes Sohail Tanvir, Sohail Khan, Jahid Ali, Mohammad Sami, Anwar Ali, Hammad Azam and Sahibzada Farhan.

Bilawal Bhatti and Sahibzada Farhan have been included as reserved players for Pakistan squad while Major (retd) Naeem Akhar Gilani has been appointed as manager for the fun-event. Pakistan were the runners-up last time around when the tournament was played. South Africa were the winners of the 2012 event. Pakistan will surely be one of the favorites to clinch the trophy this time around as they have not only won the inaugural edition but have sealed the tournament five-times. Only England have managed to win that many times.

Rules of the event

According to the rules of the tournament, matches are played between two nations of six players, and each game consists of a maximum of five six-ball overs bowled by each side. Wides and no-balls are declared as two runs.

If five wickets fall before 5 overs are completed, the last remaining batsman bats on with the fifth batsman acting as a runner. He always takes strike. The innings is completed when the sixth wicket falls. A batsman is supposed to retire on reaching 31 runs. A retired batsman can only comeback to the field once the lower order gets dismissed or retired.
