Pakistan is all set to host the World XI side for a three-match T20 series. The series is expected to serve as the gateway for international cricket coming back to the Pakistani soil. Ever since the infamous terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus back in the year 2009, the international tours have come to a standstill in Pakistan.

No major cricket team has toured the country for an international commitment. This has been a bothering concern for Pakistan’s cricket administration and the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well. Needless to say, the upcoming World XI side is shouldering a lot of hopes of the cricket fans and the cricket boards as well.

All the dark clouds hovering over the World XI tour were brought to an end when the PCB announced the 14-man squad for the World XI side. The PCB named a star studded squad for the three matches. The series promises to be a big affair. As many as five players from South Africa will be touring Pakistan for the series.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis will lead the team against the hosts, Pakistan. The social media erupted in joy as they welcomed the players for the series. Also, the Pakistan army were quick to welcome the players of World XI to the Pakistani soil. Major General Asif Ghafoor took to the social media platform Twitter to welcome the players.

He remarked that the people and the army of the nation are eagerly waiting to host the visitors. Needless to add, the army will have to play a major role in providing the adequate security to the players during their stay to make them feel comfortable.

“We welcome Cricket Team World XI to Pakistan. Pakistanis are eagerly prepared to host them as a peace and sports loving nation,” quoted Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj General Asif Ghafoor in a tweet.
