The India and Pakistan cricket fans were again at loggerheads on the microblogging site, Twitter as the International Cricket Council (ICC) stirred a debate on who among Virat Kohli and Imran Khan boasts of having improved individual record after leading their respective National teams. The cricket fans of two rival nations took it as a matter of their pride as they voted in mass numbers.
On Tuesday, January 12, ICC took to their official Twitter handle to start a unique poll where they asked their followers and ardent cricket fans to pick one among Virat Kohli, Imran Khan, AB de Villiers, and Meg Lanning, who became ‘extraordinary cricketers’ after becoming captains of their respective nations.
“Captaincy proved a blessing for some extraordinary cricketers. Their averages improved as leaders. You decide which of these ‘pacesetters’ were the best among these geniuses!,” the ICC tweeted.

The ICC Poll results create an uproar on Twitter
The poll quickly went viral on the microblogging site and as many as 5,36,346 people participated to vote for their favourite and deserving candidate. Undoubtedly, the main fight was between India’s Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s Imran Khan.
Surprisingly, the former Pakistan all-rounder triumphed India’s current skipper as Imran got 47% of final votes while Virat also gave a neck-to-neck competition having 46% of total votes under his belt. The third place was acquired by South Africa’s hard-hitting batsman AB de Villiers who secured 6% votes while Australia’s Meg Lanning got just 1%.

Pakistan news channel faces criticism
While announcing the results, ICC also reflected on the individual records of all the players when they were leading their side. Dubbed as the greatest ever captain to lead Pakistan, who also helped them in winning their maiden World Cup title in 1992, Imran khan had a breathtaking batting record while captaining. His Test batting average while leading the side was a whopping 52.34 while not leading the side was 25.43.
“#CaptainsMonth. The results are out!. You’ve decided the best ‘pacesetter’. The indomitable Imran Khan has emerged as the highest-rated captain, beating Virat Kohli, Meg Lanning, and AB de Villiers in the poll”
