Pakistan Clinch a Convincing Victory, 1st ODI, Pakistan v Zimbabwe – Statistical Review: As it happened, the First ODI at Lahore since 2009 was done and dusted against Zimbabwe with a win over the visiting team in the 1st ODI of the three match series. Pakistani spectators have been splendid throughout and we have seen instances of it in the T20 series. The first match of the ODI series was no exception to it. It was Pakistan who took cruise control of the game throughout it’s tenure and in the end it was a comprehensive victory from the Green Army at their hunting ground. Pakistan won the match by 41 runs.

- This match registered the highest total in Pakistan. They scored 375 runs. Previous best was made by India against Hong Kong at Karachi in 2008 when they scored 374/4.
- Pakistan surpassed the best score at Lahore by any team in an ODI innings. Previous best was from Sri Lanka when they scored 357/9 against Bangladesh in June, 2008.
- Wahab Riaz took 3 wickets and stands as the sixth highest ODI wicket taker of the year with 23 wickets. Starc tops the list with 34 wickets in 13 innings.
- The total stands to be Pakistan’s second highest total in ODI Cricket. Their previous best came against Bangladesh in 2010 at Dambulla when they scored 385/7.
- Zimbabwe scored 334 runs in the match has now become the best chasing total at Lahore. Previous best was by Australia in 1998 when they chased down 316 runs against Pakistan.
- This is the first time in the history of ODI Cricket that all the top four Pakistani batsmen have scored over 50 runs in the same ODI Match. Hafeez scored 89 followed by 79 from skipper, Azhar Ali which in turn was succeeded by a brilliant century from Shoaib Malik and Haris Sohail remained unbeaten on 89.
- Shoaib Malik averages 55 at Lahore which is exceedingly high when compared to his international average which is 33. In fact, 3 of his 8 international centuries have come in this ground.
- Shoaib Malik scored 112 runs off 76 deliveries and is the fifth fastest batsman to score a century in Pakistan. The list is topped by Ijjaz Ahmed who went on to score 139* off 84 against India in 1997.
- This was the first Pakistan innings to feature two 150+ runs partnership. The first wicket stand between Hafeez and Ali contributed 170 runs and the second came from Malik and Sohail who contributed to a 201 runs partnership.
- Shoaib Malik, after his century in the match stands as the ninth highest player to have scored the most number of centuries for Pakistan. The list is led by Saeed Anwar with 20 centuries.
