The cricket fans in Pakistan are in for a delightful summer this year. After the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the fans will get to witness some international cricket action at home as well. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently confirmed that Windies would be touring the country in the first week of April for a three-match T20I series.

The three T20I matches are scheduled to take place on April 1, April 2 and April. All the matches will be played in Karachi. Recently, the authorities at the Cricket West Indies (CWI) revealed how the deal was struck between them and the PCB. Reportedly, the PCB is paying a huge sums of money to their Windies counterparts for the proposed tour.

The authorities confirmed the same but maintained that all the money will be given to the players. They revealed that the matches will be taking place outside of the existing FTP of the two teams. CWI is only helping cricket to take rebirth in the country.

“Pakistan are looking to play more cricket at home, by playing half of the PSL in Pakistan next year and a number of matches in upcoming bilateral series under the current FTP. However what they can’t continue to do is pay international players additional fees to tour Pakistan or PSL,” CWI CEO Johnny Grave told ESPNcricinfo.

Play in USA in return

Adding further on the same note, he added that the PCB in turn have obliged to play three T20Is in the USA or Canada later this season. Also, he mentioned that the players have been informed about the extra pay and the money will indeed go to the players.

“So, considering this tour is outside the Future Tours Programme, the PCB have made a payment to CWI that is being fully utilized. CWI isn’t making any money from the series, just supporting cricket going back to Pakistan,” Grave noted.

“As a tradeoff for this, we have their agreement to play regular T20 games in USA or Canada outside of the FTP to try and build interest in cricket in our time zone. We [CWI] have been very up front with players and told them all money we are getting for this series they will be getting,” he added further.
