Earlier, Pakistan batsman Nasir Jamshed had been banned for one year by the Pakistan Cricket Board. This was with regards to him being proved guilty of non-cooperation in the spot-fixing scandal that hit the Pakistan Super League. While his ban is supposed to get over by February this year, more trouble is coming his way.

The Pakistan Cricket Board issued a series of corruption charges on Nasir Jamshed today. It has asked the opener to respond to the charges within a couple of weeks. The PCB further vowed to not tolerate any kind of corrupt activities within the sport.

Press Release by the Pakistan Cricket Board

The PCB issued a press release on their website where they passed their statement on Nasir Jamshed.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board has today issued a Notice of Charge to Cricketer, Nasir Jamshaid, wherein he has been charged with multiple violations of Articles 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4 and 2.4.4 of the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code for Participants (the Code). Nasir Jamshaid now has fourteen (14) days to respond to the Notice of Charge.”

The Pakistan Super League in its second season last year was rocked by allegations of spot fixings. Cricketers like Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were immediately banned while the likes of Mohammed Irfan and Mohammed Nawaz were fined as well. Now, it’s Nasir Jamshed who has come at the folly of the Anti Corruption Tribunal. He last played international cricket for Pakistan during the 2015 World Cup.

The spot-fixing case isn’t something new in Pakistan cricket. Probably regarded as the biggest scandal in cricket, the 2010 England tour saw cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Amir being banned after investigations revealed their guilt in spot-fixing. While Amir has returned back to international cricket, the likes of Butt and Amir have been neglected time and again through their ban is over.
