Pakistan was off to a winning start in the three-match ODI series against West Indies at home and the dressing room showed out their emotions from the dugout. Chasing a big score of 307, skipper Babar Azam scored a splendid century while Imam Ul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan scored crucial half-centuries to set up the game for an exciting finish towards the end.
However, once the set batters were gone, the panic button was on and it needed special innings from Khushdil Shah to bail them out. The left-hander struck a 23-ball 41 with four sixes and a four at a strike rate of 178.26 and got the side home from a tough situation. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz played second fiddle to Khushdil and were happy to give the strike to the set batter.
Nawaz came in at the 48th over, and he provided the perfect finish to the innings with 6 needed off 5 balls. The left-hander ensured Pakistan got over the line with a six off the bowling of Alzarri Joseph in the second delivery of the last over. The dressing room was quite animated after the shot from Nawaz and it was all happy smiles in the dugout after a hard-earned victory.
“As cool as you like. Nawaz seals the deal with a scintillating SIX,” the PCB Instagram handle captioned.
