Pakistan likely to host Zimbabwe following Bangladesh’s visit: If reports are to be believed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has almost cracked another deal, with a rather struggling Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) for a quick series, where in they will play two ODIs and a T20I.
The series is likely to be played in Karachi and Lahore; the Pakistan authorities have sent a proposal to their Zimbabwean counterparts and are awaiting their approval to finalize things. A senior PCB official was quoted by PTI saying, “They had asked for a security plan for the series and we have also sent them that. We are now expecting them to give final confirmation when PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan meets with his ZCU counterpart on the sidelines of the ICC meeting this month,”
The official looked affirmed of the tour materializing as he said, “This time we are getting positive vibes from the ZCU and hopefully this series will be played onwards from mid-May immediately after the Pakistan team returns from Bangladesh,”
Apart from Zimbabwe, the PCB is also in talks with a couple of ICC Associate nations to send their teams to the country, the senior PCB office bearer confirmed it saying, “We are also negotiating with two associate member nations to send their teams to Pakistan including the Netherlands,”
If things fall into place like they are planning this might end the boycott test playing nations have observed over touring Pakistan following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan. Only Afghanistan and Kenya teams have toured Pakistan in the duration. There is now a lot of stake on the call the ZCU takes regarding this series.
