Pakistan spinner Bilal Asif’s bowling action found to be legal: Pakistan spinner Bilal Asif who was reported for bowling with a suspected illegal bowling action earlier this month after the 3rd ODI of the Zimbabwe v Pakistan ODI series has been cleared. Asif after being reported underwent bowling action analysis tests at the BCCI and ICC approved Sri Ramchandra University testing centre in Chennai where the analysis found his action to be legal.

The test revealed that the extension of his arm was not beyond the permissible limit of 15 degrees and thus clearing him off the charge. With that the bowler is free to take part in international matches.

The International Cricket Council in its Media Release on icc-cricket.com stated:

Asif’s elbow extension was well within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the bowling action of Pakistan’s Bilal Asif has been found to be legal, and the player can continue bowling in international cricket.

At the assessment, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension in all of Asif’s deliveries was well within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations.

He was reported after the third ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare on 5 October and the independent assessment was performed at the Sri Ramachandra University testing centre in Chennai earlier this month.
