Pakistan Spinner Raza Hassan banned for using Cocaine: Pakistan left-arm spinner Raza Hassan is all set to face a two-year ban from all forms of cricket after he was tested positive in a dope test that was carried out at the WADA accredited laboratory in India.
A source from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told that the test of the first urine sample of Raza Hassan that was taken during the Pentangular Cup (which was also said to be the selection trials ahead of the 2015 World Cup that ended last month) in Karachi in January had tested positive for cocaine. Hassan was asked to hire a lawyer on his side and submit his answer to the PCB formed committee that includes a sports medicine doctor and former Test player, Naushad Ali.
The source said Mid-Day The results of the second sample are still awaited but on basis of the first sample results, the board has already established a two-member committee to chargesheet the spinner and seek an explanation from him. The PCB is taking the matter very seriously because this is the first time any player has tested positive for the use of cocaine. If Hassan can’t clear himself before the inquiry committee, he faces a two-year ban from all cricket.
Players getting banned for testing positive for banned substances is not new for Pakistan cricket as Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akthar had done that during the 2007 World Cup in West Indies. Hasan has played an ODI and 10 T20s for Pakistan.
