Pakistan to host Zimbabwe in May: International Cricket is all set to return to Pakistan after 6 long years as Zimbabwe has decided to tour the Asian country to play a bilateral series, for which the schedule is yet to be prepared. According to Zimbabwe Cricket, all the matches of the tour will be played in Lahore.
This is the first time since 2009, an International series will be played in Pakistan after the terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team bus on its way to the Gaddaffi Stadium, Lahore. Since then, Pakistan played their home matches in UAE. Earlier this year, Kenya toured Pakistan to play some unofficial ODIs.
It was also confirmed that Dav Whatmore will be the coach of Zimbabwe for four more years. Since Brendon Taylor quit Zimbabwe Cricket, the board is yet to announce a captain to lead the side in Tests.
I can confirm that Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan in May. All matches to be played in Lahore at the Gaddaffi stadium in Lahore. We had a duty to ensure the parents of the players, the players, government through SRC are on board before announcing. We can also confirm that Dev Whatmore has signed a new four year contract with Zimbabwe Cricket. Regarding the Test Captaincy,the cricket committee is discussing and a decision will be announced soon. We have taken cognisance of all the factors for us to arrive at this decision, so let’s not be alarmist about the situation in Pakistan, Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase was quoted as saying by the board’s Twitter account.
Former captain and Zimbabwe Cricket’s Managing Director Alastair Campbell said that the tour for Pakistan is taking place to establish the bilateral relations between the two nations. He also added that Pakistan will tour Zimbabwe later this year.
We are touring Pakistan as a measure of establishing bilateral relations between us and them. They will also come to Zimbabwe in August, he was quoted as saying on ZC’s twitter account.
