It was another slow day of play in the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test series as the home team aggregated just 202 runs playing out the whole day three for the loss of just four wickets. Azhar Ali stabled the Pakistan innings after their openers failed to convert their fifties into big ones.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the day’s play.

3 – Pakistan’s top three batsmen scoring fifties in the same innings is the 16th such instance in Test cricket. Three instances of top three players in the batting order scoring fifty-plus scores for Pakistan have come in the last one year.

39.86 – Shan Masood’s strike rate of 39.86 is the highest among the five batsmen who have batted in the Pakistan’s innings. Masood’s opening partner had a SR of 39.23 while Azhar scored his runs at a rate of 37. Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam had SRs of 32.77 and 34.56 respectively.

115 – Innings Azhar needed to complete 5000 runs in Test cricket. He is the 4th quickest among Pakistan players to reach the milestone in terms of innings and the 2nd quickest (61) in matches after Younis Khan (59).

126 – Balls Azhar Ali needed to score his first boundary of the innings. He has played 200 balls in the innings so far hitting just three fours for his 74 runs.

191 – Number of wickets for Rangana Herath in Tests after turning 35. His tally is the 2nd most for any player in this format after turning 35. Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett picked up 192 wickets after turning 35.

391 – Herath has taken 391 wickets in the Test cricket so far. He is now the 14th highest wicket-taker in Test cricket going past Makhaya Ntini’s tally of 390 wickets.

2006 – The last instance of a Sri Lankan scoring 300+ runs and taking 15+ wickets in a calendar year in Test cricket was Farveez Maharoof in 2006 where he scored 368 runs and picked 15 wickets. In 2017, Dilruwan Perera picked up 15 wickets scoring 388 runs so far.

5042 – Runs Azhar Ali has aggregated in his Test career so far. He is the 8th Pakistan player and 93rd player overall to score 5000 Test runs. Since his Test debut in July 2010, only six other players have scored over 5000 runs in this format.
