Captains speak:

Sarfraz Ahmed –  “Dew will be a factor because of humidity, so we want to chase,” he says. “We’re excited. The morale within the group is high. Our white-ball cricket is getting better, we’ve been playing T20 cricket back home. Mohammad Amir is out , Mohammad Nawaz is in. Umar Akmal makes a comeback.”

Carlos Brathwaite “We’ve to do what we did against India. We want to be the best T20 team in the world, we want to form a legacy. Every game we play should take us closer to that dream. Any T20 team will miss Gayle and Russell, but we have the young and exciting Nicholas Pooran who will make his debut today. The youngsters have an opportunity to cement their place and show what they’ve got.”

Teams:

West Indies (Playing XI): Evin Lewis, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher(w), Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite(c), Sunil Narine, Jerome Taylor, Samuel Badree

Pakistan (Playing XI): Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed(w/c), Umar Akmal, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali

TOSS: Sarfaraz Ahmed has won the toss, Pakistan will bowl first.

Pakistan will aim for a fresh start when they take on the T20 world champions West Indies in the 1st T20I of the three-match series at the Dubai Sports City Stadium, Dubai. Pakistan is on a high at the moment having earned the test mace just recently but their limited overs fortune seems to be completely contrasting.

West Indies, on the other hand, are completely dangerous when it comes to the attacking version of the game. There is no safety first approach in them. These features give the calypso Kings the edge over the Pakistanis who seem to be lacking muscle comparatively. However, That doesn’t mean that we expect a lop-sided affair. There will be stiff competition and match promises to offer complete entertainment.
