Australia spinner Nathan Lyon spun his web to snare a five-wicket haul to register an emphatic and historic series victory for his team in Pakistan. After two dull Test matches in the series finally came a result and the Aussie side led by Pat Cummins recorded their first series win in Asia since 2011. The Kangaroos last visited these shores 24 years back in 1998 and had won the series by the same 1-0 margin.

Speaking about the fifth and final day of the third Test, Pakistan were chasing a target of 351 runs to clinch the series. Imam-ul-Haq and skipper Babar Azam notched up half-centuries. Star wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan bagged a duck as Fawad Alam also failed to contribute by scoring just 11 runs. Both the batters were dismissed LBW by Australian captain Pat Cummins. Babar brought up his second fifty of the match to keep fighting for his side. But once Lyon got him out, the floodgates were opened and the visitors sensed a victory.

The tail-enders were cleaned up by Cummins and Lyon as Australia defeated the home side by 115 runs to achieve a historic and memorable win in Lahore. Lyon bowled a marathon spell of 37 overs in which he took five wickets for 83 runs with eight maidens. Australian skipper Cummins was declared the Player of the Match for his eight wickets contribution in the game and Usman Khawaja Player of the Series for scoring a staggering 496 runs which included two tons and two fifties with a stellar average of 165.33.
