Australia star Usman Khawaja was all praise for Pakistan’s latest bowling sensation Mohammad Hasnain after the latter made his debut in the second ODI on Sunday. The 18-year old Hasnain has been grabbing the limelight ever since impressing in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he played for Quetta Gladiators. The right-arm pacer has made a name for himself with his ability to bowl really fast.

Hasnain, who regularly clocked over 150 kmph during the PSL,  impressed in the final too. The teenager picked up 3 for 30 to bag the Man of the Match award, helping Quetta win the title. The impressive performances helped him earn his maiden call-up from the senior Pakistan team for the ongoing five-match ODI series against Australia. And the highly-rated pacer finally made his debut in the second ODI.

However, it was a debut to forget for him. He failed to pick up any wicket just like most of his teammates during the crushing loss, ending with figures of 0/54 off nine overs. His pace, however, impressed Usman Khawaja as the in-form Australian batsman said that the youngster looked ‘like a good bowler’.

“Hasnain had decent pace, he was bowling down a big breeze so that helped him a bit. He was on debut too, so he probably had the adrenaline going also. He looked like a good bowler, he had a bit of pace on him and you’ve got to respect those bowlers,” Khawaja said after the game.

Australia dismantle Pakistan

Talking about the game, Australia continued their winning run in ODIs and beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the second ODI to take a two-nil lead in the series.  Their skipper Aaron Finch led from the front, smashing a 143-ball 153 not out to anchor his team’s comfortable chase of a 285-run target in 47.5 overs. In-form Usman Khawaja had also made a good contribution by scoring 88. Earlier in the game, Mohammad Rizwan’s century and skipper Shoaib Malik’s fifty had helped Pakistan recover from a shaky start to post a competitive total of 284 for 7.
