Kiwi cricket coach Mark Coles is all set to be named as the new head coach of the Pakistan Women’s team for the upcoming series against New Zealand. Mark is quite an experienced individual for the role as he has also coached the Northern Districts region in New Zealand. The men’s team head coach Mickey Arthur is the one who suggested that Coles should be appointed as the coach of the Women’s team. Once in place, he will replace former pacer Sabih Azhar, who was with the Pakistan team during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 in England.
The Kiwi coach Coles will commence its coaching duties from next month in Lahore, with a training camp and then will leave with the team to Dubai for the series against New Zealand. After a poor outing in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, where they couldn’t win a single game, the Pakistan women’s team would be thriving to do well in the upcoming series. It was also reported that skipper Sana Mir also had some problems with Azhar after the World Cup in England.
Everyone wants them to win
Coles was delighted to get the charge of the Pakistan Women’s team and also termed it as a big challenge in his coaching career. He further stated that the girls have been working hard in the past few months but have not yet achieved the desired results.
“I think they just lost the big moments in those games. They played well, but when the big moments came they couldn’t get the job done,” he said.
Coles also revealed that all the fans of the team want them to win and improve with every passing international match. “Obviously the public just want them to win, like any international team. The team has been developing really nicely so hopefully we can continue that,” he concluded.
