The Indian team had a very disappointing outing in the big final against the arch rivals in the Champions Trophy 2017. Chasing a mammoth 338 runs to win, the star studded Indian batting lineup made a mockery of the run chase as they were bundled out for a paltry 158. This meant that they had dropped the title by 180 runs. Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, was graceful in the defeat though.

The hard-hitting batsman, who ended up among the top 5 leading run getters in the tournament, had a rare off day at office when he edged one to be dismissed by Mohammad Amir in the early overs of the run chase. His wicket was certainly a key in denting India’s chances in the match morally and statistically. India lost the game but the Indian skipper certainly managed to win the hearts of the opposition team fans.

The remarks made by Virat Kohli in the post match presentation and thereafter seems to have hit the soft corners of the Pakistani fans. His graceful and lovely words on the fight shown by the Pakistani team won the hearts of many. He walked to the presenter with a smile and that had surprised a lot of people.

He commended the way the Pakistani players had shown serious intensity on the day. He showered praises on the opposition team and then defended his boys by crediting them for coming so far in the tournament.

“It was disappointing. Congos to Pakistan. The way they turned things around, it was amazing. They can upset anyone on their day,” Kohli said after the match. I have a smile on my face because I am very proud of the boys. Credit to Pakistan. They outplayed us. They were more intense and more passionate,” said Virat Kohli after the game.

“With the ball, we could have had more wicket-taking opportunities. Sometimes, the opposition does play very well. Even with the ball, they were very aggressive,” he had added further. When Kohli was making these remarks, the Twitterati started pouring in tweets in awe of the Indian captain.

Here is how the Twitterati was overawed with Virat Kohli’s remarks on Pakistan team:
