Veteran South African batsman Hashim Amla looked very pleased when he recently reflected back at the tour of Pakistan that he had. Amla was a part of the World XI team that toured Pakistan for a 3-match T20I series. The series held prime importance since it brought back cricket of highest quality back to the Pakistani soil.

As per the recent quotes in Geo.tv, Amla cited that the people in Pakistan were very welcoming. He was pleased to see such passion and love for the game of cricket. He hailed the efforts of the PCB for having conducted the series and believes things will only get better from hereon.

“It was great. The people [in Pakistan] were so welcoming and really made the World XI team feel at home. That’s when we understood how much planning had gone into this event to give it the best chance of succeeding,” quoted Hashim Amla.

“Our experience has been a good one. Slowly with time the confidence will build again. The PCB made a big effort and if they continue to do so then things will only improve,” he added further.

On T20 Global League

When asked to comment on the South Africa’s T20 Global League, Hashim Amla expressed his excitement about the same. He will be playing for the Durban Qalandars, a team owned by the owners of the Lahore Qalandars of the PSL. When asked to comment on the owners, Amla mentioned that he was amazed by the passion they have for the game.

“I didn’t know what to expect when the owners were announced and to be honest I have been amazed by their vision and passion. I am quite excited and look forward to the selfless and fearless ethos which is the backbone of the franchise,” quoted the South African batsman.

On playing PSL

He was further asked if he would be available to play in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Amla quoted that it would not be possible for him to be a part of the tournament since he will have his international commitments then.

“It is unlikely as we have Test matches planned during that time next year. If at a later stage I am free and the opportunity arises then why not,” Amla pointed out.
