India is going through a tough phase in terms of healthcare with COVID-19 second wave wrecking havoc in the country. On April 30, as many four lakh positive cases were reported and despite several states going under a lockdown, the count is increasing while the fatality rate is also going up. However, in these tough times, a lot of cricketers have come forward to help in whatever way possible.

The new members added to the list are Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya along with their whole family. They have donated 200 Ocygen concentrators to the rural parts of India where quick medical help is tough to reach. This is a very kind gesture from all the cricketers or celebrities as India and rather the whole world needs to come together to fight against the pandemic.

Hardik Pandya himself revealed the news of donating oxygen concentrators during the pre-match interview on Star Sports. He stated that they are aware of the tough situation outside and were looking for the ways to help the people. “Krunal, myself and whole family, especially my mother as well, we were finding ways how can we do our bit.

“So we have decided that we are going to donate 200 Oxygen concentrators to the rural parts of India where the medical infrastructure still needs support. We all understand its difficult so we want to show our gratitude, support and just want to tell that you are always there in our prayers,” Hardik said.

Cricketers leading the way in tough times

It was Pat Cummins, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), who started it all with a donation of $50,000 to the PM CARES Fund. This was followed by Sheldon Jackson donating to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation even as the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Brett Lee are among the other foreign cricketers who have donated.

Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Ajinkya Rahane, Australia cricket media association, Estonia Cricket Association are among the other cricketers and associations who have come forward to help the country in tough times.
