MB9-Electric-728x90Indian left-arm spinner Pawan Negi, who is currently playing for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), scored a century, his first in List A cricket to lead his side to a 2-wicket win on Wednesday.

Legends of Rupganj put the opposition, Victoria Sporting Club to bat first and they posted a total of 259 from 59 overs with Mominul Haque scoring 82 and Al-Amin’s 63. With the ball Negi picked up 2 wickets and had figures of 2 for 54 from his quota of 10 overs.

In reply, Rupganj team was in all sorts of trouble with the scoreboard reading 6 for 83. Negi walked in to bat at number 6 and played an unbeaten innings of 124 runs from 89 balls to seal a win for his side with 7 balls remaining. He reached his hundred in just 77 balls, to record his maiden List A century.

He finished the innings in style by hitting a six off Chaturanga de Silva, who picked a wicket on the previous ball. The innings comprised of 13 fours and 4 sixes. Negi was named as the Man of the match. In his debut match, he had remained unbeaten on 28 and had bowling figures of 2/30.

Negi was bought for 8.5 crores in the 2016 IPL auction by Delhi Daredevils but didn’t have the best of IPL tournaments. He featured in 8 matches but bowled only 9 overs and picked up just one wicket. He was also selected in the Indian squad for the World T20 and Asia Cup earlier this year, and in his only international outing, he conceded 16 runs off 3 overs against UAE in the Asia Cup.
