Indian left-handed batter Shikhar Dhawan has played for several franchises in Indian Premier League (IPL), including the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Deccan Chargers, Delhi Capitals (DC) and is now representing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2022. The left-handed batter was bagged by PBKS at a whopping cost of INR 8.25 crore during the mega auction. He was also India’s preferred opener in all three formats of the game not long ago and continues to be a vital player in the ODIs.

The 36-year old has now opened up about getting turned down by a girl during his starting playing days. In a candid conversation with PBKS on the franchise’s official YouTube channel, the left-handed batsman revealed how he reacted after the girl turned down his proposal. He hilariously told the girl that she has turned down the Kohinoor Diamond.

“Once I proposed to a girl and she rejected me. She used to play at that time and had a dark face tone. So, you know what I said? I told her that you have rejected the Kohinoor diamond,” Dhawan recalled.
