Royal Challengers Bangalore would be hoping to inch one step closer to a playoff berth with a win over Punjab Kings in Match 60 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on May 13. However, they need to chase down a mammoth total of 210 in order to get the job done. Unfortunately for them, they happened to lose the key wicket of Virat Kohli early on.

Kohli has not been in the best of form in the ongoing season as he has just managed a solitary half-century and a couple of 40+ scores so far. But on this occasion, the batting megastar lost his wicket after being well set at the crease. A lapse in concentration against South African speedster Kagiso Rabada led to his downfall. The 33-year-old was evidently gutted as his reaction soon became a talk of the town.

Virat Kohli’s gutted reaction after losing his wicket

The batting icon had got off to a brilliant start opening the innings along with skipper Faf du Plessis as he raced away to 20 runs off just 13 deliveries at a strike rate of nearly 154 including two fours and a six. Kagiso Rabada came to bowl the fourth over. On the first ball, Kohli flicked him for a couple of runs and seemed to look well set.

On the very next delivery, the Proteas speedster bowled a sharp one around leg and kept it a bit short. Virat attempted to glance it through the leg side but, did not time the ball well which eventually clipped his gloves and went into the hands of Rahul Chahar at short fine leg.

The bowler appealed with enthusiasm but, the umpire had no interest whatsoever after which he instantly asked to take a DRS which was approved by skipper Mayank Agarwal. The decision was referred upstairs and replays showed that the ball had made contact with Virat Kohli’s gloves and he was declared out.

A gutted Kohli walked back to the dugout looking helplessly towards the sky. Meanwhile, this is the second instance of him reacting in this manner. He had looked up after getting dismissed against Mumbai Indians last month in a controversial manner.
