PCB announces a 14-man Pakistan A squad to face England Lions

After registering a four-wicket win in the only unofficial Test, Pakistan A is on the roll and will be keen to continue the same form in white ball cricket.

There have been a lot of allegations from senior cricketers regarding the operations and functioning of Pakistan’s domestic circuit, but one cannot deny the fact that there have been some good talents that have come through the ranks. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has helped them big time and now they’re keen to send their A side on tour games on a regular basis.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 14-member squad that will face the England Lions in the first of five 50-overs games that will commence on 25th November. The 26-year-old Mohammad Rizwan will be continuing as the captain in the one-day format as well. Rizwan of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the PCB in August.

There are some veteran players present in the side including the likes of Abid Ali, Shan Masood, Rahat Ali, Waqas Maqsood and Ali Imran. Apart from a few youngsters like Ashiq Ali, Amad Butt, Khushdil Shah, most of the cricketers present in the side are over the age of 29 and the selectors have gone for a fairly experienced side for this series.

Rizwan and company eager to continue the good form

After registering a four-wicket win in the only unofficial Test, Pakistan A is on a roll and will be keen to continue the same form in white ball cricket. The likes of Abid Ali and skipper Rizwan spent some quality time in the middle for the hosts and will have a pivotal role to play in the coming games.

Some notable absentees from the squad are Shaheen Afridi and Ehsan Adil, who did a terrific job with the ball. Khurram Manzoor and Mohammad Asghar too lost their place in the side but they might earn their place back as the One-day series progresses. The ICC Academy in Dubai will host the first two games and the action will later shift to Abu Dhabi.
