Pakistan has been kept bereft of some quality international cricket in the last 10 years. No international team apart from Zimbabwe has visited the country for a full-fledged tour or series since the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked in 2009. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials are trying their best to convince the other boards now in order to revive the international cricket at home after hosting the teams at the UAE.

This has led to some really good cricket being played in front of the empty seats. The recent Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand deserved decent crowd for the way it was played but it was disappointing to see no interest being shown by the people in Test cricket.

Few matches in Pakistan in 2018

Not that, the teams haven’t visited Pakistan at all during this period. World XI played a three-match T20I series while Sri Lanka later toured the country for a solitary T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium. Moreover, the PCB has also started to host the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at home with a handful of overseas players agreeing to visit the country.

The PCB chief Ehsan Mani is now set to travel to South Africa to convince CSA to play against Pakistan at home in 2019. Pakistan’s Test team is currently in the rainbow nation for the three-match Test series which concludes on January 15 and during this period, they are hoping that the future series gets finalised.

“Mani will request them to also play a short limited over series sometime in 2019 in Pakistan,” a source close to the development was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. Meanwhile, Pakistan is also keeping its fingers crossed hoping that Cricket Australia (CA) agrees to travel the country for at least a couple of ODIs of the five-match series in March next year ahead of the World Cup.
