PCB to invite former cricketers including Imran Khan for the World XI tour

The 3 T20Is will all be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

As the much awaited World XI tour closes in, the excitement levels of the cricket fans in Pakistan has peaked to sky levels. This series is largely being seen as a historical moment for Pakistan which may pave the way for the return of international cricket in the country. As the preparations for the World XI tour are in full swing, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned in making the series a grand and memorable one.

It is now being reported, that to commemorate the event, the PCB has decided to invite World Cup winning captain Imran Khan and 17 other former Test cricketers to watch the T20I between Pakistan and the World XI. While there is still suspense over who the other former cricketers are on the invite list, the legendary skipper’s name has been revealed. The invitations have already been sent out and we might know in a matter of time which cricketers are going to grace the occasion.

International stars to grace the occasion

The World XI team is slated to arrive Pakistan on the 11th of September and play a three-match T20I series after training for a week in Dubai. It is expected to star international cricketers Hashim Amla, Darren Sammy, George Bailey, Faf du Plessis and more.

On the other hand, Pakistan will be led by Champions Trophy winning captain Sarfraz Ahmed. The hosts have named a full strength side with the likes of Fakhar Zaman and Mohammed Amir for these games with Shoaib Malik being the most experienced player in their ranks.

The tickets for the series titled ‘Independence Cup 2017’ have already been sold out. The Gaddafi Stadium is expected to see a full house, as the whole world will shift its attention to watch the three T20 internationals to be played on the 12th, 13th and 15th of September.
