The Pakistan women’s selection committee has announced 15-member squads for the three ODIs against England in the ICC Women’s Championship and a three-game T20I series as well. The tour is scheduled to get underway on December 9 and will take place until December 20 at the Kinrara Oval, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Pakistan recently beat Bangladesh in an ODI and T20I series.

From the ODI squad, four changes have been made. Kaynat Hafeez, a right-handed batsman, and Rameen Shamim, an off-spinner, have earned maiden call-ups. Nida Dar, their premier all-rounder, and left-arm spinner Anam Amin have made a comeback into the scheme of things. Iram Javed, Kainat Imtiaz, Sadia Iqbal and veteran Sana Mir haven’t been included in the squads.

As far as Mir is concerned, she has taken a break from international cricket. Four changes were also made in the T20 team. Aroob Shah, a 15-year-old leg-spinner, has been given her maiden national call-up. She had earlier impressed in the ODI series versus Bangladesh. Fatima Sana and Rameen have been recalled after they missed Pakistan’s last T20I matches.

Nida Dar makes his return after  representing the Sydney Thunder in the Rebel Big Bash League. The three ODIs are also an opportunity for Pakistan to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup New Zealand 2021 by beating second-ranked England. Pakistan are ranked fifth in the table of the ICC Women’s Championship.

“The two squads have been put together after considering recent performances in international and domestic events,” Urooj Mumtaz, the chairman of women’s selection committee, was quoted as saying. “A series against a quality side like England always brings challenges and we have put together these combinations keeping that in mind,” she added.
