The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned in trying to bring back international brand of cricket back in Pakistan. Their first step towards achieving this long term target was hosting the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 finals in Lahore. While the tournament final went on smoothly without any security hiccup, a rare incident of a fan barging in the dressing room has come to the fore now. Apparently, the unidentified fan had tried to enter the dressing room of the Peshawar Zalmi.
It was English batsman and Zalmi player Dawid Malan who had reported the incident to the authorities on the night of the finals. Malan had reported the issue to the security personnel deputed with his team for the final fixture. Also, he elaborated further saying that the man had barged in the dressing room and was seen asking for autographs and selfies.
While there was no harm done, this security lapse surely is an embarrassment for the PCB. Had their been any harm done to any player, be it domestic or an overseas player, things would have only gone worse for the Pakistan cricket. Now, as per the Sportstarlive.com, the PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan has quoted in the media that an enquiry has been ordered to address the issue and figure out the exact details of the same.
“It is a matter of concern for us and it came to our knowledge few days back about this person getting into the dressing rooms. We have ordered an inquiry to find out how this happened and where the security lapse occurred,” quoted Shaharyar Khan.
Talking about the finals, it was Peshawar Zalmi who had toppled the Quetta Gladiators on the day when it mattered the most. The overseas players of Peshawar, including skipper Darren Sammy, had agreed to play in Lahore. On the other hand, the overseas players of Quetta Gladiators opted out of the finals citing security reasons.
