In a step to curb corruption, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi had a meeting with the six franchise owners of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The meeting took place on Monday, as PCB proposed certain anti-corruption pointers to counter such malpractice in the upcoming third edition of the popular league, which is set to start in the month of February, next year.

According to a source, the board had put forward the proposal of having no officials on the same floor of the hotel as the cricketers of the respective franchises. Apart from that, if the owners of the franchise decides to have a one on one conversation with the players, then they will have to move to the meeting rooms.

Curfew after 1 am

The PCB also proposed a curfew on the cricketers after 1 am. Therefore, the cricketers won’t be allowed to leave the team hotel after a stroke to 1 am. That’s not all, the players will have to inform their respective managers before leaving the team hotel during the non-curfew hours.

In response to PCB’s move, certain franchise owners said that there is no need of the curfew hours as players, who are involved in the wrongdoings, will anyways find a scope during the non-curfew hours of the day. Some of the owners also proposed the idea of the PCB to have it’s own security on the suspected players, so as to counter their actions. But the arguments couldn’t convince the PCB.

PCB ensures neat work

The PSL franchises have put forward their reservations on the participation of the Pakistani players in the T10 cricket league, which will be played in Dubai in December this year. According to sources, PSL franchise owners said that participation in short-format cricket makes the cricketers prone to misdemeanor, so Pakistani players should not be allowed to be a part of the T10 league. However, Sethi has said that PCB and ICC will be present during the event and therefore there won’t be any sort of hiccups.
