Bollywood and India lost an extremely talented artist in Irrfan Khan on Wednesday as he breathed his last in Mumbai. He was admitted at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and was under observation for colon infection. However, his health deteriorated and eventually passed away on the morning of April 29. Soon after the news out of his demise broke out, condolences poured in for the actor and his family on social media.

Even the cricketing fraternity did the same hailing Irrfan for his exceptional contribution to the Indian cinema. The likes of Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble among many Indian cricketers paid their tribute to him after his demise.

Like many other cricketers, even Irfan Pathan expressed his sadness over Irrfan Khan’s unfortunate passing away and revealed a unique connection with him without even meeting him. The Baroda cricketer recalled how many used to tag him mistakenly while praising Irrfan for his wonderful work in a number of movies.

“Ppl used to tag me regularly instead of #irffankhan for his outstanding work in the Indian cinema. That is sort of my connection with him even without meeting him. Saddened by his death,” Irfan wrote in his tweet.

Here’s his tweet:

Irrfan Khan wanted to become a cricketer

Irrfan Khan will always be remembered for the work he has done in the Indian cinema but very few know the fact that he wanted to become a cricketer. He liked playing cricket instead of going to school and wanted to play for India. Rather it is believed that Irrfan was almost selected for the CK Nayudu Trophy but he had forego his dream due to the responsibilities of his family.

However, he remained a vivid cricket fan throughout his life and was even spotted at the Lord’s during the Test match between Pakistan and England in 2018. He was in London then being treated for neuroendocrine tumour. After surviving from the life threatening disease, he also worked in a movie Angrezi Medium which eventually turned out to be his last film.
