Rahul Dravid is the perfect flagbearer for the gentleman’s sport. A gentleman himself, the former Indian captain is one of the most respected cricketers across the globe. Popularly known as ‘The Wall” for his formidable impetus while batting, Dravid had the ability to tear through any tenacious bowling attack and establish his ground.

However, little did this talented Indore-born boy know that he will fall in love with a brainy doctor. Dravid eventually tied the knot with his love interest Vijeta Pendharkar on May 4, 2003.

The Dravids and the Pendharkars have known each other for over 35 years. Pendharkar stayed in Bangalore between 1968 and 1971, and that is when the friendship between the duo began. Vijeta’s friends always thought that Rahul had a liking for Vijeta as he would visit her in Nagpur whenever he had a chance.

Their parents soon got the hint of the brewing romance and took no time to fix a wedding date for them. It was a love-cum-arranged marriage and a rather beautiful one.
