Indian skipper MS Dhoni was all praise for batsman KL Rahul in the post match press conference after the conclusion of the T20 series in Florida. MS Dhoni expressed he was pleased with the way his bowlers turned up for the 2nd game after having received heavy beating in the first match. Talking about the positives, he clearly pointed out that Rahul has been the revelation for the team in the series.
He cited that the wicket definitely did not change a lot between the two games and was surprised to see the two-faced behaviour of the surface. “At times you think whether you are playing on the same wicket. I don’t think the wicket changed a lot. I think it was a lot similar to yesterday’s wicket,” quoted Dhoni.
He further answered that no breaks between two games can be fruitful at times. He also pointed out how it helps the bowlers to plan again. He clearly mentioned that it is not only the planning that needs to be done but the key is in the execution.
“Often when there is a no break between two game, it actually helps the bowlers to quickly plan out as this is what needs to be done. It’s not only the planning, it is the execution that matters. Because you can plan hundred things but if you are not able to execute, it doesn’t really matter,” said MS Dhoni. He added that he was very pleased with the performance of bowlers.
Talking about the outcomes from the series and the positives to take away, Dhoni did not hesitate to accept that KL Rahul’s batting was the biggest positive for them. He said that it was an opportunity for the young man and he grabbed it in best possible manner.
“It was a chance for some of the youngsters to come in and grab the opportunity and the biggest positive was the way Rahul batted in yesterday’s game. Plenty of positives to take away thought the result did not go in our favour. The area of concern for me was quickly we had to adapt to the shortest format,” he conceded.
Dhoni was also all praise for the venue at Florida and said it was not only great for India but also for the West Indies team. India lost the T20 series 1-0 after the 2nd match was washed out by rain.
