Peshawar Zalmi wants some PSL matches in Peshawar next year

The PSL champions Peshawar Zalmi have demanded to schedule of the matches of the T20 league in Peshawar next year. The franchise owner, Javed Afridi, expressed his desire to see the Zalmi play at their home ground in the future editions of the tournament. Earlier, the PSL chief Najam Sethi had announced that the board and the governing council of PSL are planning to schedule at least 8 matches in Pakistan next year.

The announcement had come as a result of a very successful PSL final of 2017 held in Lahore. Now, as per the reports in Geo.tv, the Peshawar franchise is keen on requesting the board to schedule at least 3 matches in Peshawar next year. Javed Afridi, the owner of the franchise, remarked that they would want the world to see the hospitality of Peshawar next year during the popular T20 league.

“After the success of PSL final in Lahore, we the Peshawar Zalmi demand to play PSL 3 matches in the home of champions, enjoy Zalmi’s hospitality,” quoted Afridi.

Later, the media management of the franchise released a statement wherein they confirmed the news of the request made by the Zalmis. “Chairman Peshawar Zalmi Javed Afridi has decided to discuss matter of PSL 3 Matches with PCB and request to schedule few matches of Peshawar Zalmi at Peshawar in front of home crowd,” the statement from the Zalmi read.

Also, soon after the statement was released, some of the overseas players of the team confirmed that they would travel to Peshawar if the matches are scheduled there. Dawid Malan and Tamim Iqbal were quick to respond to the news. “Peshawar Zalmi also glad to reveal that all our foreign player consent to play matches at Peshawar,” a spokesperson of Zalmi noted.

“InshaAllah, I am with Javed Afridi, 100%,” Tamim Iqbal tweeted soon after the news broke out.

Lastly, the statement added that they hope the state government will cooperate and have firm arrangements for the matches if deemed appropriate by the board. “Peshawar Zalmi is ready to play their part in hosting matches of PSL3 in Peshawar and is hopeful that KP government will provide all facilities and arrangement for the successful hosting of PSL games in Peshawar,” the statement quoted.
