Netherlands skipper Peter Borren has been a bit of an enigma. With Netherlands scheduled to take on Oman today, Borren took to twitter in a bid to appeal to the rain Gods with heavy showers taking place at Dharamsala. The latest reports suggest that the entire ground has been covered and the floodlights have been turned on.

“Rollers and super soppers are being used as weights to keep the covers in place,” was the latest intercept from those present at Dharamsala. It is however, no surprise that Peter Borren is keen on facing up to the might of the Oman team following their impressive win over Ireland. Zeeshan Maqsood’s heroics, especially the one-handed catch at cover to dismiss the dangerous Paul Stirling took the cake.

In contrast, the Dutch had a disappointing opening encounter against Bangladesh as they lost by an 8-run margin. Thus, apart from missing out on the much-needed points, Peter Borren and the rest of the Netherlands side will be hoping that rain doesn’t play spoilsport. It is also quite clear that the Dutch will relish the challenge following Oman’s recent exploits.

Oman still has to face up to the mighty Bangladesh after the much-anticipated encounter against the Dutch. Borren’s tweet read,” Rain, rain go away! We have 10% of our 2016 matches to play today! #pleaseclear #bigday.” Thus, for the sake of those who have turned up at the Dharamsala stadium and for Peter Borren, one can only hope that the match takes place.

Here is the Tweet from Netherlands skipper Peter Borren. The ‘10% matches’ is a satirical poke towards the ICC that indirectly refers to the small number of matches that the Dutch will get to play in the calendar year of 2016.
