Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) support staff member Kamlesh Jain has been appointed team India’s physio. He has replaced Nitin Patel who was with the team until their last assignment. He has been moved to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Kamlesh worked as the head physio as well for KKR during his 10-year association with the franchise. He joined the Indian team on Monday (June 6) in New Delhi where the first T20I between India and South Africa is set to be played.

The KL Rahul-led side practised for almost three hours at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Jain’s appointment as India’s physio was reported earlier as well and the BCCI sources confirmed to Cricbuzz about the same after he joined the side in the national capital.

As far as the T20I series is concerned, the two teams will travel to Cuttack (June 12), Vizag (June 14) and Rajkot (June 17) before the tour concludes on June 19 in Bengaluru.

Rahul Dravid to not leave for England with the Test squad

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that team India head coach Rahul Dravid will not leave for England with the Test squad on June 16. He will oversee the entire South Africa series and then leave with KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who are part of the T20I squad as well. Also, a part of the current support staff will also leave on June 16 while the NCA staff will assist Dravid for the rest of the South Africa series.

Before the England tour, India is also scheduled to play two T20 Internationals against Ireland on June 24 and 26. The selectors are expected to name a different squad for this series with the Test squad already being in England to feature in the fifth Test from July 1 in Birmingham. The BCCI has already confirmed that the former India cricketer and the current NCA head VVS Laxman will step in as head coach for the Ireland tour.
