A fan or a friend has to stand a lot of things; when the person they are friends with or follow isn’t at their best in terms of performance, there is criticism and most people would agree it isn’t easy to accept the tough words against someone we admire. An exemplary example of friendship or following is Piers Morgan’s constant backing for English cricketer in exile Kevin Pietersen.
The former England skipper has been out of contention for a spot in the national squad for years now though he hasn’t accepted the fact and at 36 still wishes to claim back his lost place and pride. But the ECB and England cricket have certainly moved on, they have the new stars and are banking on the younger talents to get them through to a phase where they will be a dominant force in international cricket.
KP made a comeback in the Big Bash League a couple of games ago and was on fire today. He played a sizzling knock of 73 off just46 balls to power his team the Melbourne Stars to 200 batting first in the Melbourne derby game against the Renegades and eventually won the match by 46 runs. The moment he got out Morgan tweeted – “OUT! Great knock by @KP24 – 73* off 46 balls. Some thrilling shots. Looks in superb form. #BBL06”

Oh well by mistake he placed an asterisk against his score and a lot of his followers who didn’t sympathize with KP as much as he does were offended.

This guy certainly didn’t enjoy the tweet- “@piersmorgan @KP24 Breaking: KP now 15th highest run scorer in this years big bash which is absent of the worlds best 5 20/20 batsmen.”

@piersmorgan @KP24 Putting "*" when he's out is just wrong. It means not out!

@piersmorgan you do realise the asterisk ceases to be correct when the batsman is out, yes?
