Prithvi Shaw reveals his favourite opening partner in Instagram live with Delhi Capitals

As the world is grappling with the effects of COVID-19, India is currently going through an extended lockdown which is expected to end on May 3. To tackle the pandemic, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the extension of the lockdown in order to curb the outbreak of COVID-19. However, the coronavirus debacle has still been affecting lives as more than 25,000 people in India have tested positive of COVID-19.

Along with human existence, the pandemic has also taken a toll on sporting activities. The much-awaited IPL 2020 has also been postponed indefinitely to tackle the pandemic. However, considering the current situation, the commencement of IPL 2020 in the near future looks bleak. Amid the lockdown, many players have resorted to Instagram live and joining the bandwagon was none other than youngster Prithvi Shaw.

He recently participated in an Instagram live session for his IPL side– Delhi Capitals (DC). During the chat, the Mumbai cricketer was asked to name his favourite opening partner.

Shaw responded to the question and took the name of his DC opening partner and Team India’s swashbuckling opener Shikhar Dhawan. Shaw revealed that since he has opened with Dhawan a lot, the left-hander remains his favourite opening partner.

“Shikhar Dhawan because I have opened with him most,” Shaw said during the live session.

Shikhar Dhawan has been associated with the Delhi franchise since 2019 and his addition has worked wonders for the Shreyas Iyer-led side. Delhi finished at the third spot in the previous edition and the franchise will be hoping to put up a similar show in IPL 2020.

In 16 games, Dhawan accumulated 521 runs – fourth highest in the 2019 season– at an impressive strike rate of 135.67. Dhawan was set to play a vital role in Delhi’s IPL 2020 expedition. Moreover, Shaw had also complimented the left-hander by smashing 353 runs in 16 matches. The youngster amassed two half-centuries in IPL 2019 including a 99-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders.
