Prithvi Shaw is going through tough times in his career at the moment. He is currently serving the doping ban for having “inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups.” His ban ends on November 15 and ahead of that, his team wants the 19-year-old to regain his fitness and confidence. And for the same reason, they are working on his schedule to tie up with India’s badminton star PV Sindhu.

Shaw was handed over a backdated ban which ruled him out of the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh. India are set to play a three-match Test series against the Proteas and then the Tigers will visit the country for three T20 Internationals and a couple of Test matches.

According to Sportstar, Prithvi Shaw is expected to start training with PV Sindhu this week. The move was initiated by Shaw’s team itself as Sindhu’s workouts have become popular among the young athletes across the country. It is also expected that India’s teenage prodigy will come out as a better fielder after training with the star player.

“The idea is to improve his overall fitness and agility as a fielder. We expect Shaw to improve his flexibility as a fielder and also enhance his endurance power to play long innings,” a source close to Prithvi Shaw said.

Shaw’s exceptional debut

Prithvi Shaw had stormed into international cricket against West Indies last year at home. He had scored a scintillating ton on his Test debut and everyone was looking forward to watching him in Australia. He started the tour superbly with a half-century in the warm-up game. But while fielding, he twisted his ankle near the boundary line and was thus, ruled out of the entire series.

Since then, the youngster is still waiting to make his national comeback. He played the Mumbai T20 League and then the IPL and must’ve hoped to play the Test in the West Indies but as fate had it for him, he was found guilty in doping for unknowingly ingesting a prohibited substance. He is currently in England recovering from the lows of his career and will be looking to make a strong comeback.
