Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) tournament witnessed a record breaking knock as Pallu Prolu Ravindra hit a century in just 29 balls. In professional cricket, the record for the fastest century was with Chris Gayle off 30 balls which he scored in the IPL while batting for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, they are a couple of 27-ball centuries in official first-class records but they were helped by friendly bowling from the opposition.

Prolu Ravindra, playing for City Gymkhana hit 144 in just 58 balls against Jaidur Club and struck 13 sixes and 4 fours in his knock. He brought up his century off just 29 balls and helped his team finish with 403/9 in the restricted 50 overs. In reply, the Jaidur team was bowled out for just 229 runs.

He recorded this feat in the Group 1 game of the KSCA tournament in the 4th division league on Saturday at the Sri Jnanakshi Vidyaniketan School ground in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Though this match doesn’t come under official records, this 29-ball century by Ravindra will be the fastest century recorded in the Indian cricket including minor games except where known.

Ravindra originally hails from Bapatla situated in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district. The 27-year-old has come to Bangalore five years ago, along with his brother Vasu, who works in the Indian Army. “Virender Sehwag is my role model. I have been studying in class 10 after playing in cricket and I am aiming for a home in the IPL as well as helping parents,” Prolu Ravindra was quoted by Vijay Karnataka.

The Dilip Narayan, Assistant Secretary of the Gymkhana team says that Ravindra is well known for playing explosive innings and recently scored a couple of centuries in just 40-50 balls.

“After joining Bangalore, Coach BA Rajir trained Ravindra, who joined Karnataka Youth Cricket Academy. When playing in the corporate cricket tournament, he is now playing explosive innings for our team, combining an offensive game. In a recent tournament in Andhra Pradesh, Ravindra scored 130 runs from 63 balls, 105 runs from 45 balls and 55 runs in 18 balls.” said Dilip.
