Cricket is a sport which can’t be played amidst rain of in soggy conditions, unlike other sports say Football for that matter. Hence it’s necessary to keep the grounds dry which ensures smooth conduct of the game and also eradicates chances of injury to the players. Several games have been washed out due to heavy downpour, which hampers the game in the large picture.

Teams across the globe have resorted to several methods in order to make the ground conditions fit for cricket as soon as rain stops. The drainage systems have been improved over the years with the introduction of equipment like super sopper. The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore uses SubAir System which helps in the fast drainage of the water accumulated during heavy rain.

However, during the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), a unique method has been brought forth by the organizers at the Gaddafi Stadium. The weather forecast for the Eliminator 1 between the Quetta Gladiators and the Peshawar Zalmi wasn’t something to cheer about. As per Accuweather, there were 51% chances of rain.

The players were welcomed with light showers ahead of the game. The match was even halted during the Zalmi’s innings. The second Eliminator will be played between the Karachi Kings and the Peshawar Zalmi at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The weather in the city is pleasant, however, it might play spoilsport to the all-important encounter.

The authorities in Lahore resorted to helicopters in order to get the ground dried up before the game. The official Twitter handle of the PSL posted a picture of the same on the social media platform.
