Pakistan Super League (PSL) got underway on Thursday with the game between Multan Sultans and the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi. A glittering opening ceremony preceded to the season opener during which the renowned stars performed and entertained the crowd. However, it was the team from Multan which looked up for the challenge and defeated Zalmi comprehensively after which the skipper Shoaib Malik took a friendly dig at Darren Sammy.

Multan Sultans first bowled well to restrict the opposition to 151 be picking the wickets at regular intervals and then chased down the total in the last over with even wickets in hand. Their innings was shepherded by Kumar Sangakkara and the skipper Malik who made sure they were on the board in the first game for the franchise. They would be hoping to continue in the same vein as they will face Lahore Qalandars on Friday.

Malik’s tweet for Sammy

While the Darren Sammy and his men hoped for the things to improve for them in the near future, it was a great start for the new entrants of PSL. After the match though Shoaib Malik responded to the old tweet of Sammy. The Windies all-rounder, after the schedule was released, had funnily asked the captains of Sultans if he was ready for the Yellow storm in the opening game of the season. “Hey @realshoaibmalik I see we are 1st to battle next season.. are you ready for the #yellowstorm #PeshawarZalmi,” he had tweeted.

As it turned out, the storm never arrived and easily lost the first game. Shoaib Malik took to Twitter and responded wittily to Sammy’s message and also credited them for playing well. His response read, “Hey @darensammy88 & team, well played today. Btw the #yellowstorm called & asked for an umbrella So I sent her the one I had #psl3.”

While Sammy is also a very sporting person, it would be interesting to see if he responds to Malik’s funny dig.
