Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has travelled to Bangkok for treatment on his injured knee ahead of the title clash of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He represents Peshawar Zalmi in the T20 tournament who defeated Karachi Kings in the second eliminator in Lahore at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday. Though he didn’t feature in the virtual semi-final for his team, he might probably join the squad for the final. However, Tamim would be itching to get back on the field for his team on Sunday but only if he gets fit in time for the game.

He restrained himself from fielding in the final of the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy against India which his team lost off the last ball courtesy Dinesh Karthik. But he played the first eliminator against Quetta Gladiators which Zalmi won again off the last delivery. However, he felt the strain in his knee once again before the game against Karachi Kings and was subsequently ruled out of the game.

BCB yet to confirm his availability

According to the media reports in Pakistan, Tamim Iqbal will most probably join Peshawar Zalmi squad to play the final of the tournament. Though Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to confirm anything regarding the news. It remains to be seen if the flamboyant opener will become fit in time for the title clash of PSL.

Tamim Iqbal joined the franchise during the beginning of the season and played 5 matches for Zalmi before leaving to join the national side to feature in the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka. So far he has scored 161 runs in six appearances this season at an average of 32.20. If Tamim manages to get fit for the final, it will be a huge boost for his time as his exploits at the top could prove decisive in the crunch game.
