The fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will kick off on February 14 and the franchises are gearing up for the tournament with full vigour. Islamabad United, the most successful team in the PSL history, on Thursday launched its kit for the upcoming edition and it was liked by the fans. In a complete departure from the past kits, the new one has reduced golden part and is mostly covered with shades of red. The United will take on Lahore Qalandars in the first match of the tournament in Dubai.

The United is the most successful team in the PSL so far with two titles (2016 and 2018) and also has the highest success percentage of 59.67 among all the teams, with wins in 19 out of 32 games they have played so far. The team’s kit was launched on its digital platform in Lahore. The United are led by former Australia and New Zealand cricketer Luke Ronchi and have names like Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Wayne Parnell and others.

‘A look that gels well with the franchise’

Speaking on the occasion of the kit’s launch, the owner and CEO of the United, Amna Naqvi said, “We have always prioritised quality, and providing premium top-notch products to our players. The changes we have made for our kits over the past three years have been reflective of that. The design is no different. We are adopting a vibrant, stylish look that gels well with the ethos of our franchise and brand identity and look forward to continuing era of success for Islamabad United.”

The press release by the United also mentioned what each of the shades of colours in the jersey – Flame Red, Fire Red and Flame Gold represent.

The United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets in the final of the 2016 PSL and Peshawar Zalmi by 3 wickets in the final of the 2018 edition. On both occasions, they were led by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
