The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been a witness to three seasons and Lahore Qalandars have finished as the cellar dwellers on all the three seasons. The upcoming edition gets underway on February 22 with the contest between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans and the Qalandars would be desperate to arrest their slump in the mega event.

In the first season, they had Azhar Ali as the skipper and was replaced by former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum. However, even he couldn’t change the wretched fortunes of the franchise. In the 2017 edition, the 37-year-old notched 93 runs in eight matches at an average of 13.28.

The team persisted with their skipper even in the next season and he couldn’t deliver as the captain, albeit he racked up 218 runs in 10 matches at an average of 27.25. Recently, it has been learned that the seasoned campaigner has parted ways with the Qalandars.

McCullum leaves Qalandars

The Otago-born cricketer posted an emotional message on micro-blogging site Twitter where he expressed his gratitude to the team as well as its owner Fawad Rana. Moreover, he also promised to maintain his friendship with the members of the franchise.

McCullum and wrote, “A big thank you to @lahoreqalandars for the past 2 seasons. Today we have parted ways but I leave with fond memories and friendships. I wish you all the best in the future. To the Rana family, a special thank you. Our friendship will always remain. @thePSLt20,”

In the meantime, the Qalandars franchise also thanked McCullum for being an inspiration to the youngsters and wished him luck for the coming times.

Replying to McCullum’s tweet, the franchise wrote, “Thank you @Bazmccullum for being a part of Lahore Qalandars and proving to be a great inspiration for our youngsters! We wish you all the luck for your future endeavors!. #DamaDamMast,”
