Multan Sultans made their debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the erstwhile season and was even at the top of the points table. However, they entered into a slump and finished second-last after the round-robin stage. Later, the franchise also had ownership issues, but that has been sorted. Going into this year’s tournament, they would be keen to turn their fortunes around with some strong shows.

The Kings, on the other hand, lost five matches in the first round. Yet, they qualified for the playoffs. Karachi eventually bowed out of the cash-rich T20 tournament after losing out in a closely fought Eliminator 2 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Sultans and Kings are now scheduled to lock horns in the first of tomorrow’s doubleheader at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Pitch and Conditions

Being the first game, dew may not play a massive part. Spinners are most likely to come into play. Nevertheless, in the second half of the encounter, batting is expected to be a tad easier. Electing to field first after winning the toss seems to be the wisest decision for the time being.

Babar Azam and the experienced Awais Zia are the likely openers. They would be followed by the left-handed Colin Ingram. Ravi Bopara and Sikandar Raza are the men in the middle order. Umar Siddiq may also get an opportunity. Left-arm speedster Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan are the fast bowlers.
