Karachi Kings handed 3rd defeat of the season to Islamabad United as they successfully chased down 184 during the Sunday’s match in Rawalpindi. Luke Ronchi’s unbeaten 57-ball 84 and skipper Shadab Khan’s 54* off 31 balls helped Islamabad finish on 183/3 as the duo shared a 106-run stand in the last 10 overs.

Babar Azam was run out without facing a ball in the first over of the chase but as many as four players scored in excess of 30 runs for Karachi including Alex Hales’ 30-ball 52. The Karachi Kings completed the chase in only 18.4 overs for the loss of five wickets.

End of Karachi’s losing streak against Islamabad:

4 – Karachi Kings put an end to their 4-match losing streak in the PSL against Islamabad United. Their last win against Islamabad was during the league stage match of the 2018 edition. Islamabad defeated Karachi during the Qualifier match in 2018 and three times in three meetings during the 2019 edition.


A big chase by Karachi:

184 – The 184-run chase in this game by Karachi Kings is now their 2nd biggest chase in the PSL. Their highest is 187 against Quetta Gladiators in the 2019 edition.

This chase of 184 is also the 2nd highest which Islamabad United failed to defeat in the league. The Quetta Gladiators chased down 188 against United during the last week game in Rawalpindi.


A record fifty from Ronchi:

2 – Luke Ronchi now has recorded the double of 50+ runs and 3+ dismissals as a keeper in the Pakistan Super League on two occasions – vs Quetta Gladiators in 2019 and vs Karachi Kings in 2020. No other wicketkeeper has recorded this double even once.


10 – Number of fifties by Luke Ronchi in the Pakistan Super League. He is now the first overseas player and only the 3rd overall with 10 or more 50+ scores in the PSL. Kamran Akmal has 12 fifty-plus scores including three hundreds while Babar Azam also scored 10 fifties in this league.


Ronchi’s impressive record against Karachi:

116 – Luke Ronchi has a batting average of 116 in the PSL matches against Karachi Kings. Ronchi scored 348 runs with help of four fifties across six matches against Karachi. Only Kamran Akmal (451) has scored more runs in the PSL against Karachi than Ronchi but played five innings more.

Both Karman Akmal and Luke Ronchi have scored four fifty-plus scores in the PSL against Karachi Kings. No other player has recorded as many as four 50+ scores against an opponent in the PSL.


Babar gets out with facing a ball:

5 – Number of ducks for Babar Azam in the Pakistan Super League; the joint 2nd most number of ducks for any player. Kamran Akmal leads the list with 8 ducks while Imad Wasim has five ducks.


Faheem registers worst PSL spell ever:

17.62 – Faheem Ashraf’s bowling economy rate of 17.62 is the worst for any bowler in a PSL match having bowled at least two overs. Faheem conceded 47 runs in 2.4 overs he bowled in this match.

Mohammad Asghar against Quetta in 2018 and Mohammad Amir Khan against Multan in 2020 conceded 35 runs in 2 overs at an economy rate of 17.5; both while representing Peshawar Zalmi.


Hales @ 7000:

7020 – Alex Hales is now only the 3rd player from England after Luke Wright (7587) and Ravi Bopara (7070) with 7000+ T20 runs. The 30-ball 52 against Islamabad United was his 50th score of 50+ in this format which includes three hundreds.


Milestones for Imad and Rumman:

100/150 – Rumman Raees completed 100 wickets in the Twenty20 format with the wicket of Sharjeel Khan in this game while Imad Wasim got to 150 wickets in Twenty20 cricket by dismissing Colin Ingram.
