Preview:
The defending champions Quetta Gladiators began the season with three wins in their first four matches. However, since then, the Gladiators recorded a 4-match losing streak which includes three defeats while chasing which is considered to be Quetta’s strength. All those three defeats have been by 30+ runs and an 8-wicket defeat against Lahore Qalandars brought their NRR down to -1 and placed them at the bottom of the table. They will now face Multan Sultans on Wednesday who are currently the table-toppers with just one defeat in seven games.
Weather Condition/Report:
The Gaddafi Stadium is likely to receive rainfall on Wednesday from the afternoon and happening of a full match is less likely.
Pitch Condition/Report:
The last 5 matches played in the night at the Gaddafi Stadium clearly predict the pitch for the Wednesday’s game. In two of those five matches, the team batting first won defending totals around 200 while in the last two games, the Lahore Qalandars chased down targets of 188. On a doubleheader day, the first batting side were restricted to only 98/9. Hence, the team will be hopeful of a win while batting first only if they reach 200.

Top Picks:
Ben Cutting has played only six matches in the PSL 2020 but his 146 runs are the joint 2nd most for Quetta this season. It shows how ordinary the top-order of the Gladiators has been at times. The Australian all-rounder also claimed 8 wickets despite being a bit expensive. Mohammad Hasnain has been unaffected by the Quetta’s disastrous bowling performances. The speedster picked up 14 wickets thus far in the tournament at a strike rate of 12.
James Vince came into the tournament with some good knocks to his name in the T20 format. However, he failed to find big scores but an unbeaten 24-ball 61 in the rain-affected match against Islamabad gives him the confidence. Imran Tahir has been consistent in the tournament which is expected from him in any T20 tournament. The leg-spinner bagged 10 wickets in six innings thus far and has a bowling strike rate of 12.6.

Expert Advice:
Shane Watson has been quite ordinary with the bat in this tournament having scored only 181 runs in the 8 games. The Australian is known for stepping up at crunch situations and Quetta is in need of such performances. Moreover, Watson scored 80 of the 181 runs this season during the first fixture against the Multan Sultans. Hence, a rick can be taken by making him captain or vice-captain.
Probable Winners:
Multan Sultans are expected to continue their unbeaten run unless Quetta Gladiators produces a special effort to put an end to their losing streak.
