PSL 2020: Match 29, Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars – Chris Lynn’s record-breaking innings, Lahore Qalandars' biggest win and more stats

Lahore Qalandars qualified to the PSL playoffs for the first time after a record 9-wicket win against Multan Sultans in their last league match. Khushdil Shah’s unbeaten 70 off 29 balls with five fours and six maximums powered Multan to 186/6 as they scored 95 runs in the last seven overs. Chris Lynn dominated the chase with an unbeaten 113 from 55 balls deliveries that included 12 fours and 8 sixes. Lynn shared a 100-run opening partnership with Fakhar Zaman (57 off 35) and an unbeaten 91-run stand with Sohail Akhtar (19*) for the 2nd wicket to help Qalandars reach the target with 7 balls to spare.

A big win for Qalandars:

9 – Lahore Qalandars won by a margin of nine or more wickets for the first time in the Pakistan Super League. This was also the first time any team defeated the Multan Sultans in the PSL by more than 8 wickets.

Record chase by Qalandars:

187 – The 187-run chase by Lahore Qalandars is now the highest successful chase in the Pakistan Super League for the loss of one or fewer wickets. Only one team before Lahore managed to chase a target of 150+ by losing one of fewer wickets.

Karachi Kings recorded a 10-wicket win during a 151-run chase against the Qalandars on Thursday. Interestingly, Qalandars’ 188-run chase against Karachi Kings last week was the highest chase in the PSL for the loss of two or fewer wickets.

First PSL ton for Qalandars:

113* – Chris Lynn became the first player to score a PSL hundred for the Lahore Qalandars. Ben Dunk’s unbeaten 99 against Karachi Kings on last Sunday was the previous highest PSL score for Qalandars. Lynn’s century is, in fact, the 2nd T20 ton for the Qalandars behind Sohail Akhtar’s 100 against Yorkshire in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20.

This was also the first-ever century that Multan Sultans conceded in the PSL. The previous highest individual PSL score against the Sultans was 82 by Liam Livingstone during the 2019 edition.

A day of boundaries for Lynn:

96 – Chris Lynn scored 96 runs through boundaries in this game; the joint-most boundary runs for any player in a PSL inning. Sharjeel Khan during his 117-run knock in 2016 and Colin Ingram in his unbeaten 127 during the 2019 edition also scored 96 runs via boundaries. All the three players hit 12 fours and 8 sixes exactly during their respective innings.

12 – The 12 fours hit by Chris Lynn in this game are the joint 3rd most in a PSL innings by any player. Cameron Delport against Qalandars last year and Kamran Akmal against Gladiators this tournament struck 13 fours apiece. No player from Qalandars even hit 10 fours in a PSL innings before Lynn.

A quick-fire knock from Khushdil:

241.37 – Khushdil Shah had a strike rate of 241.37 during his unbeaten 70 off 29 balls. Only two players had a better batting SR in a PSL inning after facing more than 25 balls – 285.18 by Kamran Akmal during his 27-ball 77 for Peshawar against Karachi Kings in 2018 and 247.5 by Ben Duck during his 40-ball 99* for Lahore also against Karachi last Sunday.

Lynn @ 5000 runs:

5096 – Chris Lynn completed 5000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he went past his individual score of 16. Lynn scored 5096 runs thus far from 177 innings at an average of 32.66 and a strike rate of 144.15.

113* – The unbeaten 113 against Multan is now the highest T20 score for Chris Lynn. His first and only other ton in T20s came during the 2015-16 season of BBL where he scored 101 off 51 balls against Hobart Hurricanes in an unsuccessful chase.

Fakhar and Shaheen continue their good record against Multan:

10 – Shaheen Shah Afridi is now the first player with 10 wickets against Multan Sultans in the PSL. He picked those 10 wickets across six matches at an average of 13.4.

257 – Fakhar Zaman now has scored 257 runs across six PSL innings against Multan Sultans; the most PSL runs for any player against Multan. The 57-run knock in this game was Fakhar’s 3rd PSL fifty against Multan. He is the 2nd player after Luke Ronchi to score three 50s against the Sultans.

Rauf records the worst PSL spell ever:

16.66 – Haris Rauf conceded 50 runs in 3 overs at an economy rate of 16.66; the worst-ever economy for any bowler in a Pakistan Super League match. (Min: 3 overs) Sameen Gul conceded 49 runs in the 3 overs at an economy of 16.33 during the 2019 edition match for Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings.

A rare century stand for Lahore:

100 – Fakhar Zaman and Chris Lynn became only the 2nd pair to share a century opening stand for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. Chris Gayle and Azhar Ali put on 108 against Quetta Gladiators in Dubai during the 2016 edition.
