PSL 2022: Peshawar Zalmi name Inzamam-ul-Haq as president for upcoming season

He was previously associated with the franchise as a mentor during the last season.

The Pakistan batting legend Inzamam-ul-Haq has been named as the president of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi. The seventh edition of the high-profile league is scheduled to kick start on January 27. Peshawar Zalmi thus took it to their official Twitter account to make an announcement of the same.

The chairman of Peshawar Zalmi Javed Afridi welcomed the former cricketer once again to the “Zalmi family”. According to him, the inputs from Inzamam-ul-Haq who has a plethora of experience under his sleeves will benefit the players as they will get to learn under his guidance. He was previously associated with the franchise as a mentor during the last season.

“Inzamam-ul-Haq is a legend and his inclusion would benefit the Zalmi cricketers,” said Afridi.

Peshawar Zalmi recently revealed their jersey for the upcoming season of PSL  

Earlier on Wednesday, January 5, the franchise had unveiled the playing jersey for the highly-anticipated seventh edition of the PSL. Peshawar Zalmi also revealed a statement wherein they stated that the kit is designed with the aim of representing the historic city of Peshawar and Pakistan’s national animal Markhor.

“The traditional designs of Peshawar, which is also known as the city of flowers, has been included in the kit, as well as representation of historic locations of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Islamia College, Ghantaghar Peshawar, Khyber Pass, and K2,” the statement read.

This season of the PSL will be played in Karachi from January 27 to February 7 and in Lahore from February 10-27. The opening fixture of the mega event is staged to be played at the National Stadium wherein Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans will battle it out against each other.

Recently the SOPs were released for the high-profile league. According to it even if eight players return with positive Covid 19 test from the 20-member squad, the match will be played with the 12 fit players. As per sources, the match will only be postponed if 9 players of any team are diagnosed with coronavirus.
