The Quetta Gladiators’ star all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a foot injury. The 27-year-old has suffered a navicular bone fracture which would prevent him from taking any further part in the ongoing edition of the PSL.

With Nawaz being out of action for some time, not only will the Gladiators be in a spot of bother, but would also leave the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a fix as he was in their scheme of things as well.

The Quetta Gladiators registered an impressive seven-wicket win during their Pakistan Super League (PSL ) 2022 game against the Lahore Qalandars on Tuesday as explosive opener Jason Roy’s quickfire 116 runs off just 57 deliveries helped them in getting past the finish line in a high-scoring thriller.

By the virtue of this win, Quetta are now at the fourth position in the points table with two victories and four points. However, the franchise has received a huge setback as they look forward to keeping their knockouts hopes alive.

Quetta Gladiators management to request for Mohammad Nawaz’s replacement: Reports

As a foot injury has abruptly ended Mohammad Nawaz’s PSL 2022 campaign, it has been reported that the Quetta management will now request the PSL’s technical committee for a replacement of the all-rounder. Nonetheless, it will be a huge responsibility to fill in those big shoes for the candidate that replaces the 27-year-old to be a part of the franchise for the remainder of the competition as Nawaz has scored 78 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 205.26 and has also contributed immensely with the ball, having registered six scalps from five matches at an economy of 8.40.

While it is still unclear how long the all-rounder will be out of action, Pakistan journalist Saj Saddiq has said that it will be about 4-6 weeks. At the same time, the emerging cricketer’s injury would also force PCB to look for a replacement as he was named for the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia.

The Aussies would be visiting Pakistan for the first time after the 1998. The Quetta Gladiators will next be seen in action against Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.
