After the successful first-leg of the tournament, Pakistan Super League (PSL) returned to Pakistan for the remaining three matches of the competition. Lahore hosted the 2 knockout matches of the tournament which saw Peshawar Zalmi beat Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings in the two Eliminators to qualify for the finals. The National Cricket Stadium in Karachi is set to host the finals of the PSL on Sunday (March 25).
As per the reports from a Pakistani news channel a clobber duo of father-son had decided to present the famous Peshawari Chappals to the winners of the third season of the PSL. They have already started making the Chappals for the winners and will arrive in time for the final.
Pakistan’s victory in the end
Talking about the finals, they feel that the real winner is Pakistan as cricket is returning to their country after a long time. The Pakistani fans hardly get an opportunity to witness the matches at their home. “It is Pakistan’s victory at the end, despite whoever wins. We will gift the shoes to the winner,” the clobber said. According to him, it is Pakistan’s custom to present a gift.
After the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009, cricket had taken a back seat in Pakistan as top teams including India never agreed to go to the country to play cricket. They had to travel to the UAE and host matches at their adopted home Sharjah.
Through PSL, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is making sure that the cricket returns to country full-fledged. After the T20 league, the Windies side will travel to Pakistan for a T20I series.
The finals of the 3rd edition of the tournament will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi where the last year’s winner will take on the first season’s champion Islamabad United. Darren Sammy will lead Peshawar Zalmi while in Misbah-ul-Haq’s absence JP Duminy will look to win the 2nd trophy for United.
